Speak Their Names

Alpha Company suffered their first soldier killed in action on January 29, 1968. The final loss of life for the company occurred on May 28, 1971.

This gallery is dedicated to the Alpha Company soldiers who did not make it home. They will not be forgotten.

Christian, Vernon Webb

GOLD STAR FAMILY

 

Vernon deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. Vernon was killed in action on August 20, 1968 during a combat operation near Phuoc Vinh. Photos provided courtesy of his sister, Marlene Christian Bumgardner.

Fuscone, Joseph

 

Joseph Fuscone deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Alpha Company. Joe was wounded in action in the early morning hours of September 6, 1968 outside the village of Ap Trang Dau.

Lucius, John

John Lucius deployed with the battalion in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with HHC/Alpha Company After his first tour in Vietnam, John became a helicopter pilot and served a second tour.
